Hippy style clothing brands are being taken seriously by retailers, and retailers are taking note.
For example, a recent survey found that 70 percent of American adults said that a business with a website and a blog is worth following.
And a survey by the Urban Outfitters brand also revealed that shoppers are willing to pay more for the same clothing.
“Hippies are cool,” said Urban Outfitter co-founder John Molyneux in a recent interview with Business Insider.
“I’m cool with that.”
“They’re still cool,” added Molyenux, who is a hip-hop music producer and co-owner of the label Black Hippy.
“They’re not going to make the same money.”
The Urban Outfitting Co-Op in Brooklyn.
Urban Outfits is a co-op that specializes in “hippie style clothing.”
The UrbanOutfitters Co-op has been a staple of the hip-hip fashion scene for a while.
The co-ops founders John Masyneux and Justin Miller first met in college and met at a party at the hip club Roxy in 2012.
When Masyeux was in his early 20s, he had his own label called Masyieux and Co. and was signed to a label called Black Hippie.
Molyneus and Miller have both been involved in the co-operative’s clothing line since its inception.
In fact, Molyeux has gone so far as to call the coop the “Hippie Fashion Collective.”
“I’m not trying to be a hipster.
I’m not doing a hip hipster thing,” said Molyes co-worker Justin Miller.
But Molyaneux and Miller are not alone in embracing the label.
An independent clothing shop called Hipsploitation Clothing Co. opened in December 2017 in New York City and has since grown into one of the biggest independent clothing co-operatives in the country.
Owner Mark Ritter says his co-workers at Hipsplantation are “really proud” of the clothing coop’s growth.
“[Hippys clothing] is going to be in stores and on the streets,” said Ritter.
At a recent party in New Orleans, Ritter showed off his own clothes and asked his fellow attendees to join him in complimenting his HipsPloitation collection.
Some of the HipsSploitation Co-ops most popular clothing items include shirts, jackets, jeans, boots, hoodies, and more.
It’s a testament to the growing popularity of HipsPLOITation that it has been able to grow so quickly.
“Hipsploit’s brand is really just a collection of clothes, and it’s a collection that people have been buying for a long time, so people are really getting it,” said Hipssploitation co-manager Jessica Ziegler.
Ziegler is one of Hippies most trusted confidants, and says that when Hips Sploitation began as a small business in 2013, the coopers co-owners were unsure how they would sell their clothes.
Since then, the Hysploiton brand has become a staple in the community.
HippyStyleCoop.com is a collection site that allows people to browse through the most popular items from Hips Ploitation, including its latest collection.
And for those of us who love the Hsploit brand and want to support its growth, we have a new store coming soon in the form of Hippys Clothing Co-OP.
